About This Project

This site documents research into the Nobbs family of New South Wales, with origins traced to a convict transported to the colony in the early nineteenth century. Every claim on this site carries a confidence rating — Proven, Probable, Possible, Unverified, or Disputed — and links to primary sources wherever available. Nothing is invented; every relationship requires evidence.

The focus is the line descending from Joseph Nobbs (N001), associated with the Cooks River area of Sydney (a location known locally as "Nobbs Flat") and later the Murwillumbah / Tweed River district.

Confidence:
Proven — primary source confirmed
Probable — strong circumstantial evidence
Possible — plausible, needs confirmation
Unverified — not yet researched
Disputed — conflicting sources
